In the summer of 2025, the HdM Mobil’s makerspace modules were in use in Berlin. At events, we engaged with visitors in discussions about circularity in everyday life and demonstrated practical ways to take action through hands-on craft activities. The insights gained are now being incorporated into the final phase of the project:
The accompanying survey, ‘Circularity in Everyday Life’, makes it clear that strategies such as ‘Refuse’, ‘Reduce’ and ‘Repair’ are little known, whilst ‘recycling’ is often used as an umbrella term for all forms of reuse. The circular economy therefore requires targeted education that goes beyond individual actions to explain the bigger picture.
To this end, the project is developing an educational strategy that links practical experiences – such as repairing or repurposing – with concepts such as resource conservation and the entire life cycle of a product. The workshops are being further developed as clearly structured formats, with the strategies systematically integrated. At the same time, digital communication is being expanded: a project website is being created, and freely accessible educational materials will enhance transparency, reach and the long-term embedding of the topic in public discourse.
We are happy to receive enquiries regarding the use of the Mobile Makerspace Modules for drop-in sessions or workshops. We are also looking forward for cooperations.
